A nice ’shelf’ layout featuring trams, trams and more trams. HO (or possibly OO) scale. During one of my pacing shot attempts I spent too much time watching the tram and not enough time watching where I was going and almost knocked over another person trying the same thing from the other end of the layout! Filmed at Box Hill exhibition 2004.
Ray and Bubbles travel to Maine to recycle shopping carts and to attend a model train convention and meet heavy metal singer Sebastian Bach, but when Ray gets busted for soliciting a prostitute, Ricky and Julian have to travel to Maine to pick up Bubbles. After having been left stranded in a phone booth at the truck-stop where Ray was arrested until Ricky and Julian could reach him, Bubbles suffers a mental breakdown, and ends up stealing “Patrick Swayzie’s” (contrary to popular belief, Patrick Swayze has no affiliation with Trailer Park Boys, and a disclaimer to that effect has been placed before the opening credits for all Series 7 episodes starting with this one) Model Train, The Swayzie Express. After the convention the boys camp overnight in the parking lot, and party with Bach, who declares an interest in buying more of Ricky’s dope, and gives them his number.
Thompson River Canyon is an N scale layout that highlights the rugged mountain regions the Canadian National trains pass through. Filmed at the 2009 Caulfield AMRA exhibition. This layout was owned and constructed by Rod Warren and Vic Fitzpatrick, with John Colliver and Noel Purdey offering assistance with the layout wiring. Rod Warren had his home layout “Santa Fe on the plains in N scale” featured in the October 2009 issue of Model Railroader magazine.
